The Lost Kitchen is a beautiful, rustic restaurant with a lively atmosphere, serving delicious pizzas, local meats and more from its wood-fired oven. You can also enjoy a wide range of wonderful coffees, teas and cakes. The restaurant is led by husband and wife team George and Aurora Aykroyd who aim to offer ‘seasonal food within a modern European menu, along with the warmest welcome from the friendliest team in town’.

Since opening in summer 2021, The Lost Kitchen, which is open Wednesday to Sunday, has become known for serving up delicious wood-fired food created from the best Devon and West Country produce.

Converted from a traditional Linhay and former cider barn built in the 1800s, The Lost Kitchen is just a 30-minute drive from Woodleigh Cottage, near the Devon town of Tiverton.

When we last had dinner at The Lost Kitchen, we enjoyed a shared starter of polenta chips with special mayonnaise, followed by a fabulous meat pizza - full of flavour, crispy and soft in all the right places - fresh from the wood-fired oven.

Plus a bavette steak, perfectly cooked rare to medium-rare to maximise on flavour, on a bed of seared vegetables.

We also loved the selection of wines, ciders, beers and even cocktails with local ingredients. You can take a closer look at The Lost Kitchen’s wine list, their range of non-alcoholic beers and drinks and their cocktail menu too.

Eating and drinking well are such an important part of any trip away from home and we're thrilled to add The Lost Kitchen, Chettiscombe to our range of restaurant and pub recommendations.

The restaurant has on-site parking and sits high-up, to give guests great views during the day. At night the building looks stunning, surrounded by fairy lights, the light from the floor to ceiling windows and the view of all the guests at tables enjoying themselves.
