The Perfect Country Cottage on Exmoor - Woodlands Holidays Reviews

Updated: Mar 28, 2022

Booking a holiday can be a stressful experience, so learning what other holidaymakers enjoyed about their holiday, their accommodation and any tips they have on where to go and what to do, can help you make the right choice of where to stay on Exmoor. Our guest reviews about our 'perfect country cottages' express what they love about Woodlands Holidays on Exmoor. We're pleased to share these guest reviews to help you decide on whether a weekend break or longer stay at Woodlands House or Woodleigh Cottage would be right for you, your friends and family.

Many of these reviews are from guests visiting Exmoor and staying in Dulverton for the first time. They love this new experience - whether it is the striking scenery, the peace and tranquility of Exmoor, a chance to enjoy the local food and shops, or just being able to meet up again with the families and friends.

Woodleigh Cottage and Woodlands House, with their private gardens, made their stays unforgettable, while the little extra touches provided by us, such as cream teas, a bottle of wine, or lighting a welcoming log fire, were greatly appreciated.

Here is a selection of our guests' comments. We hope you'll enjoy it just as much, when you come to stay at Woodlands Holidays.

Woodleigh Cottage (sleeps 4)

“You've found the perfect country cottage! We had a fabulous stay in this cosy cottage on the edge of the Exmoor National Park. It's well located, only a five minute walk from a good variety of shops in Dulverton and close to lovely walks and stunning countryside.”

“A quintessential, wonderful tranquil cottage with everything you need- very relaxing- excellent location.”

“We had a truly wonderful stay in the cottage which, while very old it has been modernised in terms of comforts and is very well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The garden is beautiful, and part of the stunning larger gardens. The location in Dulverton is so convenient and we would definitely like to return for another visit one day.”

“We were so lucky to find this place was available for our family holiday. The accommodation was great - a pretty, historic cottage which was well-equipped with everything we needed.”

“We stayed at this magical cottage for a week and it's even cosier than the pictures suggest. Everything - the linen, the sofas, the beds - were so comfortable and homely. The kitchen was really well equipped, and the garden was a genuinely idyllic space to sit and listen to the wealth of wildlife around you. All in all, this was one of the best weeks we have had anywhere - really fabulous…”

“Gorgeously beautiful cottage in prime location to explore Dulverton and surrounding Exmoor. The little touches make this a home from home. Well equipped, with everything you need. Cream tea welcome was an added bonus. Secure garden for our dogs who loved curling up by the fire in the evenings.”

Woodlands House (sleeps 8)

“Great location and fabulous house and garden. We were a party of five and had a lovely week’s stay here. We all enjoyed the local walks and the house was perfectly located for that. It’s also a short walk into town with lovely cafes, pubs and shops. The house was clean, beds were comfy and the kids and dogs enjoyed the garden. What a fab garden!”

“Brilliantly located in the heart of this lovely little Exmoor town, the house is a great place to stay. The house is very old as well and rather handsome with a large and beautiful garden and stunning views across the valley of the River Barle. It is very well placed for exploring and walking on Exmoor.”

“A house full of character and quirks, gorgeous garden and cosy wood burners! Just a few minutes’ walk into Dulverton- a perfect place for exploring Exmoor.”

“A lovely property full of character and quirks. We were greeted with scones, cream and jam. Kitchen utensils well stocked. Comfortable beds, Clean and lots of space.

The garden view was beautiful and the area quiet. Lovely village a few minutes’ walk away.”

“The house was stunning, 500 years old, it’s large and spacious! Perfect for the six of us and two dogs. The garden was the highlight for us, we spent all our time outside sitting under the verandah. We cannot wait to return and had the best trip!”

“Woodlands House is comfortable and well-equipped and there was plenty of room to spread out. The garden is absolutely beautiful, and we enjoyed sitting under the covered terrace. The village of Dulverton is a short walk down the hill and has places to eat and drink and shop. The location is great for exploring Exmoor.”

So now you can see why we were kept so busy through last year. If this sounds like the sort of place that you’d like to visit and explore, then get in touch. We’d be happy to make your stay as pleasant and enjoyable as theirs.

We look forward to welcoming you to Woodlands Holidays soon!
