Welcome to this very special house, which has been part of our family for more than forty years. It is a listed building, parts of which date to the 16th Century or earlier.

Woodlands House works fantastically well for groups of friends getting together, a multi-generational family gathering or just a well-earned break for one larger family.  Owners, Bill and Jane live next door and will be pleased to welcome you on arrival, show you over the house and answer any questions.

One of Woodlands House's most special features is its bright, spacious double-length living room with French windows, an open fire and a log burner. An ideal place to relax with plenty of sofas for everyone to collapse into. A couple of steps leads up to a library and games area, with chess board, books and board games if you are looking for a quieter space.

When the weather is fine, it is a fantastic opportunity to open the French windows and step onto the oak-framed porch running across the back of the house, facing the garden. It creates a special place to sit in the shade on a sunny day and take in the view of the Barle Valley.

To the right of the hallway you enter a charming dining room with garden views, a log-burner and a stunning ‘Plank and Muntin’ oak screen. The dining room is connected to a medium-sized, well-equipped kitchen and also a larder, with a large fridge/freezer. A microwave is also provided.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms leading off the landing, all with great views to the garden. With two large double bedrooms and two further rooms, with two single beds each, Woodlands can accommodate eight guests. For baby guests we can also provide a cot and a high chair.

The bathroom has the longest roll top bath you have ever seen, ideal for a long soak after a hard day's walk on ‘the top’ of Exmoor! There is also a separate shower room with a basin and loo.

The house has full oil-fired central heating, WiFi, a Bluetooth speaker you can connect to and a Smart TV.

There’s a private, secure driveway and a separate gate to the house, near the kitchen door, leading onto the road.

Dogs are welcome to stay as there are many beautiful walks for them to enjoy. There is a charge of £10 per dog for up to 3 nights stay and £20 per dog for up to a week.

Two baskets of logs are made available on arrival, logs are available from the log store at £10.00 per basket.
